Live Wide Open: The Story of Three Wide Brewing
Some businesses start with a plan. Others start with a passion. For us at Three Wide Brewing, it started with an opportunity we couldn’t refuse—a chance to turn a love for the craft beer scene into a hub for human connection.
The Unexpected Detour
If you had asked me back in 2019 if I planned on opening a brewery, I would have laughed. I was a craft beer enthusiast, sure, part of the generation that helped propel the scene into the mainstream. But my days were spent in a completely different world: the competitive, fast-paced industry of tile and natural stone distribution. I’d been an entrepreneur for nearly two decades, focused on building companies with strong foundations.
Then, my partners laid an opportunity in front of me. It was a slight hesitation at first—a whole new industry, a new set of challenges. But that hesitation lasted less than a day. I realized that my experience in distribution, my family background in restaurant hospitality, and my genuine love for the social fabric of the craft beer world weren’t just parallel skills; they were the perfect ingredients. After 20 years, I was ready for a new challenge. I was ready to build a place where the main ingredient would always be the people.
Of course, the universe had other plans. We broke ground in early 2020, and the world immediately ground to a halt. We spent the better part of two years navigating delays, permit backlogs, and supply chain chaos. But we were seasoned entrepreneurs. We waited it out, working part-time on what mattered most: developing the brand and perfecting the recipes.
And the name? After months of searching for something inspiring, we found the answer right in front of us: our address. We’re on Three Wide Drive. Sometimes the most permanent sign is… well, a street sign.

No Crap on Tap: Our Brewing Philosophy
Our mission is simple: “No Crap on Tap.”
Every beer we produce is one we are proud to serve. We honor tradition by making exceptionally good classic beers, but we’re also thoughtful mad scientists at heart. We don’t chase gimmicks—you’ll never see us throw a sausage in a vat and call it a “hot dog beer.” Our approach is intentional and craft-centric, a collaborative effort to create everything from a crisp, traditional lager to a complex, peach-smash barrel‑aged stout.
But we’re also true “beerlievers” in the idea that the beer is just the adjunct ingredient. The main ingredient is the hangout, the connection, the community. Our beer is simply here to enhance the good vibes.
You can feel that philosophy when you walk into our two-story taproom. It’s not one single vibe; it’s an eclectic space designed for every character. We have large tables for families to play board games, cozy couches for students and friends, and an entire upstairs area that has become home to Magic the Gathering players and Mahjong clubs. We even have a speakeasy hidden behind a bookcase. It’s a space designed to be lived in, and our community has done just that.
We’ve hosted first dates that turned into anniversary dates a year later. We’ve hosted weddings, 50th birthday parties, a local church group, and weekly business meetings. A customer once loved the vibe so much he became one of our managers. These are the moments that affirm our mission. This is why we do it.

Beyond the Pint: The Future is Wide Open
In a crowded aisle, our unique beers like the Tropic Groove Coconut Hazy IPA stand out. The can design might catch your eye, but it’s the promise of a shared experience that we hope makes you grab a six-pack. Our goal is for that first sip to come with zero regrets, followed by an immediate thought: “I can’t wait to share this.”
And soon, you’ll be able to share it in more places. We’re expanding our distribution across Texas and have aspirations to go national and even international.
But we’re not stopping at beer. We’re evolving into a craft beverage company. We’ve already begun distilling our own spirits and developing RTDs under new brands, with Three Wide as the proud parent. We’re embracing the future, but our core belief remains the same.
We invite you to come in, grab a pint, and Live Wide Open with us.
